Folate is a good form of folic acid (please, never take a synthetic form). It plays an essential role in methylation, it enables the conversion of homocysteine to methionine, the production of serotonin and melatonin, and it is indirectly involved in the synthesis of DNA. It also helps with depression, megaloblastic anemia, and renal and hepatic impairment. The tablets are small and easy to swallow.

Better product than what I had been using. This ia a bioactive form of folic acid, 800 mcg of folic acid with 30 mg of calcium phosphate. MegaFolinic is more rapidly converted into L-methyfolate. Helps the body build healthy red blood cells and brain health. This is a quality product from Source Naturals.

I have to take MegaFolinic in conjunction with Natural Factors, B-12, Methylcobalamin due to a MTHFR Gene Mutation. Before starting on the Megafolic I was in a poorly state with my Health. I have been taking it for five years now and I'm the happiest and healthiest I have felt for decades.

This raised my folate levels wonderfully. They were pretty low and in a couple of months I'm back into optimal range. It had no side effects and didn't have any taste that I could tell. Gave me a little bit of energy back as well which was welcomed.

Here we go. I love this stuff. I have MTHFR genetic issues and Folinic acid is the best for me. The thing is that it can be really hard to find. For example, in some countries it is a prescription only basis. I think Source Naturals did us all a big favor to come out with this. Folinic acid helps me work up to being able to take the Methyl-folate. It's a progressive protocol.

According to the analyzes, a deficiency of vit. B9 ( folic acid ) was revealed. I acquired this drug, because it is in an increased dosage, because it was necessary to eliminate the deficiency, and in a good digestible form - folic acid. As a result, after 5 months. according to the analyzes, the level has risen almost 3 times, which confirms that the drug is a worker! Then I switched to daily supporting dosages of 400 mcg.

One daily tablete for benefits. if you drink medicine for depression see with your doctor, but i dont think its good to stop tham by using this only.

There are three types - folate, folic acid, folinic acid. Folate is the natural form of vitamin B9 that is plentiful in dark green leafy vegetables, legumes, and cruciferous vegetables like broccoli. Folic acid is the synthetic form of folate that is often in supplements and in fortified foods such as cereals. There is a gene, called MTHFR, that helps produce an enzyme that converts a portion of folate and folic acid into folinic acid. Folinic acid is then converted into the active form methylfolate, which is used by the cells in our bodies. For those with normal MTHFR gene variants, folic acid is used. However, if an individual has a MTHFR gene mutation, then dietary folate and folic acid supplements may not be converted to the active forms such as folinic acid and methylfolate sufficiently, which can increase the risk of birth defects, miscarriage, increased homocysteine levels and clotting. Folinic acid or methylfolate (activated folates) supplementation is more suitable for those with MTHFR gene mutations as these forms have already undergone metabolism. For those with normal MTHFR gene variations, then folic acid is still suitable. My son tried methylfolate and reacted badly. He is allergic to aspergillus mold and we found out that methylfolate is fermented using aspergillus in the fermentation process. So we tried this product folinic acid instead and had no reaction! An excellent product.

We don't know if it's helping our kid, but it seems to be if good quality, so we've been use it..however, more than 2 caplets doesn't work for our kiddo, as she gets some adverse effects...use slow and build it up as per your requirement and tolerance is what I suggest
